We are now launching Term-O-Stat, a four-stage model for terminology work in accordance with the Swedish language law.

The Swedish language law (adopted in July 2009) has made terminology a hot subject for the Swedish authorities since they according to this law have an increased responsibility for terminology accessibility, use and development. TNC and Fodina now present Term-O-Stat, a model intended to initiate a functioning terminology management at Swedish authorities. Term-O-Stat involves investigating which terms are being used in the authority’s current documentation and web site and analyzing how consistent the term use is. Based on this analysis, the found concepts can be defined and decisions on which term to use for which concept can be taken. The conclusions can thereafter be presented in easy-access tools like Rikstermbanken.
