Terminology - the basis of efficient document handlingA lot of what we do at Fodina involves terminology and terms. We assist clients with efficient term management in both source language and target language. By "term management" we mean defining and translating the terms, as well as using the terms when new texts and documents are created and translated. The terms have a limited value per se but constitute the foundation of all good product texts and documentation.

At Fodina we see term management as a natural part of not only the documentation and translation processes but also of the product development. The earlier in a product life cycle the terminology is defined, the better for everyone involved. To be able to handle our client's terms all the way from development to documented products, processes with clearly defined roles (who does what and when) are required, together with tools to drive these processes. For the processes to be successful in everyday business they have to be built into or supported by a tool. At the very least a standardised termbase for the language used for writing the documentation is required. To support the client from start, e.g. the product development phase, to finish, e.g. localised products with translated documentation, we work with both the processes and the tools related to term management.
